Bike Share Toronto

So I finally signed up and got my bike pass. I’m trying to take advantage of the nice summer weather to go for an evening bike ride. So far it was fun getting back on the bike again. The only problem is there is limited number of bike stations along the bike trials along Lake Ontario, meaning I have to ride back and forth within the 30 minute time limit which really restricts the route to take. Until they are done finish the construction on the other Habourfront side so I can ride on that side, where I will have more option.

Blue Jays game – Toronto vs. Chicago

For those like me that are not interested in the World Cup what so ever, I rather enjoy the day catching a Jays game at Rogers Centre. The dome was open today, hot and sunny, perfect day to enjoy the game with the Cottage weekend theme. Blue Jays have not been doing well lately, offensively and pitching has not been consistent. And with 2 of their big sluggers in injury, we have lacked power in our line-up. Today, Buehrle was great on the mount, pitched 8 innings and only allowed 2 runs. But it was not enough as the White Sox pitcher pitched a shout out. We couldn’t get any runs out from the pitchers.

The high point was when Jose Bautista pitch-hit with 2 runners on base. Everyone was cheering like crazy and so happy to see him come back to bat. But unfortunately, he grounded out and couldn’t score any runs. We ended up losing 4-0. Towards the end of the game, there were a few rain drops coming down and we watched the dome closing in action. It was closing very slowly so luckily, it did not pour. But I did get a promotional Blue Jays visor today, perfect for the summer.

Taste of Asia

I love walking around festivals so I went to check this one out. But really, I was done in 20 minutes. It was all mainly food and the same kind of food over and over again. And all over priced food! $15 for a pineapple smoothly served with the pineapple, that is insane!! And yet I still saw people going to buy it. Lots of bbq skewers for $5. The most popular stinky tofu – not just one stall but a few were selling it. The smell was there and I didn’t mind but it was funny watching others running away from the smell.

BBQ time

Summer time = BBQ time in Toronto … first attempt today for a quick dinner. Before no one started their parties, went down to my courtyard to BBQ some chicken wings. Simple, fast and yummy!!! 😀

Team Building – Dragon boat (part 2)

So earlier in the year I have mentioned that we were building this dragon boat as a Team Building event. After the event, it was left on a standstill for months as I was too busy with the regular work. Finally, after the year-end audit was done, I had a little breathing room to get this project complete. I was pretty much the only one left to finish it off, my partner is on mat leave. I took the time and went to the workshop after work to finish sanding the ores. It took me 6 hours of physical sanding the wood down, it was so tiring.

After the sanding part, I had to finish drawing patterns on the scales for the boat. There was at least 40 empty scales that I had to paint and draw. Every night after work, I would do it at home to finish it. Again, all on my own time, at least another 6 hours of my time devoted to this. Finally, we pieced it all together with our art facilitator and the dragon boat was complete.

What pissed me off the most was one of management made a comment that I was accountable to this project and that I should not have waited this long to complete the project. I was hold accountable to the staff and should have finished it right away. I was so mad when I heard from my co-workers what he said behind my back. This was extracurricular activity! Isn’t it more important that I finish my regular work first as priority, and the fucking year-end audit??? Doesn’t that make more sense? It was still fun for me because I like art and this was my only chance at work that can show my creative side but a little more respect from the staff would be nice!

And after I finished the project, I emailed him that it is done and ready to hang on the wall, he didn’t even reply with a simple thank you! How rude! I sacrificed my own personal time to finish this with no help from anyone else when this is suppose to be the Team Building event. How is this Team Building at all??? So glad I’m out of here soon.

My new beats solo HD

After hours of research of a pair of good noise cancelling headphones… my conclusion is that these things are not cheap at all. As you know I’m obsessed with my technologies being white (even though I’m not a macbook user), so it is even harder to find accessories that are white.  I have decided to invest in a pair of headphones so that I can have some concentration to work at home when my neighbours continue to hammer and drill all day long. And those long flights where you can’t hear anything with the ear buds. I hope they will last longer than my usual lifespan of ear buds.

So far, I love the design and that it is all white as a marshmallow. And it is fold-able so portable for travel.
